Judge Not
by Jacquie Rogers
Western Trail Blazer
Traditional Western

Elsie Parry and her eight mules survived the war, but can they escape the wrath of the Danby Gang? She lived alone for five years after the Recent Unpleasantness and was overcome with happiness to be reunited with her father. Now, his fondest desire is to leave all the bad memories behind and see the Pacific Ocean, so she agreed to head west. All’s well until they approach Wolf Creek, where they’re set upon by the notorious gang of ex-Confederate guerrillas… intent on proving the war is not over, after all.

The Muleskinners series of single reads is my first foray into traditional westerns. For those of you who prefer romance, I'm also giving away

THREE digital copies of

Sleight of Heart
by Jacquie Rogers

Sleight of hand? or Sleight of Heart?

A Straight-Laced Spinster
Lexie Campbell, more comfortable with neat and tidy numbers than messy emotions, is determined find the sharper who ruined her little sister and make him marry her. When his lookalike brother Burke appears, she greets him with a rifle and forces him to help her. Can she resist his magic charm?

A Gambler With Magic Hands
To claim the family fortune, smooth-dealing Burke O'Shaughnessy has to find his brother Patrick, despite being saddled with an angry spinster. But when Lexie shows an astounding talent for counting cards and calculating odds, he figures she might be useful after all. Can he draw the queen of hearts?

"... a fun and fast paced read with a charming and sexy hero!" ~Jennifer Haddad

  2. Jacquie,
"Judge Not" is a winner, I loved it. Will put "Sleight of Heart" on the list to be read. You are so generous. Your readers will thank you, and they will continue to grow. Doris

    1. Doris, I'm so glad you enjoyed Judge Not. I was really nervous when I submitted it. The editor is a really talented writer (Troy Smith) and I was worried he'd send it back with a "what on earth were you thinking" letter. But he liked it! :)

  3. It has been a few months. My favorite western author has always been Janette Oke, but I do enjoy Linda Lael Miller's books. I really need to try yours!!

    1. I love LLM's books! I haven't read Janette Oke that I know of, but I'm terrible at remembering names unless I've met them. Being name-challenged is not good.

  4. I have always like Western stories, Western romance particularly. I think as a child I watched quite a bit of Westerns with my father and grew to love characters like that, such as Roy Rogers, John Wayne and many others. One of my favorite movies is The Quiet Man ( John Wayne and Maureen O'Hare)

    2. I had a pair of Roy Rogers pistols and a holster! And you mentioned Maureen O'Hara. There just isn't anyone comparable. I cast her as the heroine in Much Ado About Mavericks. No one else could play that part.

    3. My husband and I know the dialogue of "The Quiet Man" by heart. I also had a Roy Rogers pistol and holster, but who knows what happened to the things. My mom hated it because she gave me money for my 8th birthday thinking I'd buy a doll and I bought the gun and holster. She was heartbroken. LOL The young Maureen O'Hara is how I was supposed to look. I think God turned his head and Maureen sneaked in and stole my hair and face and figure. I forgive her though. She is one of my favorite actresses.

  6. I just finished Mary Connealy's Stuck Together this past week. I love her mix of humor, interesting story and romance. I have been a western lover since I was a child. I got my start with Bonanza, Wagon Train, Laramie, John Ford movies on TV (too young to have seen them in the theaters), other westerns that were popular in the '60's and '70's. My mother started me on Louis L'Amour books early in my reading career and have grown to many more since then. I've read one of yours and would like to read more. Growing up in Texas has genetically predisposed me to love westerns. lol Did spend time on my grandparents farm with horses, cows, chickens, etc. Started riding on a calf and then went with a horse (much easier). I was ahead of my time since girls were relegated to barrel racing back then.

    1. I love humorous stories, so it's a natural fit for western romance and humor for me. I loved Wagon Train. Ward Bond was wonderful.

We lived in Owyhee County, Idaho, but it already was "west" and similar to the olden days, so we didn't seek out westerns. But once I moved away, I really missed the culture. That's when I switched to reading westerns. I always loved western movies and TV shows, though.

  7. It was a Linda Lael Miller book and honestly that's all I remember about it. I like it, though!
