Oh, really, have you seen the handsome men about? <sigh> Broad, brawny shoulders, chaps on muscular <fans self> thighs, and scuffed boots with spurs. Lawsy!!!
Of course, as a true lady, you know I've never seen washboard abs, um, I mean a man's unclothed chest, but a girl can dream. Oh, yes, a girl can dream. Makes my heart go a'flutter!
We've been flirting all week with the fine ladies and gents wha are participating in Ménage a Blog. The whole idea is to get as many comments as possible by flirting. Yes, I said flirting. Merriam-Webster defines flirting as: to behave amorously without serious intent. Oh, but sugar, I do seriously intend for one of my commenters to win a Kindle. (More on that later.)
But I think the best way to flirt is to give something away, don't you think? Something you've never given away before. Something you'd never dream of giving to someone who wasn't really special...
But I think the best way to flirt is to give something away, don't you think? Something you've never given away before. Something you'd never dream of giving to someone who wasn't really special...
<giggle> More about that later, too.
You might have already visited the other two flirtatious belles who share my, er, ménage.
One is the Queen of Sizzle, Miss Eden Baylee. Oh, sweetheart, I swan, you'd better have a tall glass of sweet tea with lots of ice in it before you read Miss Baylee's Fall Into Winter. I'll have my smelling salts ready! I'm telling you, that book is so hot you have to have asbestos mittens to hold it, and you'd best be perched on a block of ice when you read it.
And the other flirtatious belle is the Queen of Wild Rides, Miss Theresa Ragan. Oh my stars!!! Have you read Finding Kate Huntley? Because if you're not out of breath, you haven't. The gents will all be in love with Kate Huntley and we ladies are absolutely palpitating over Jack Coffey. And when they're together, watch out! Bullets fly, sparks fly, kittens fly . . . <giggle> I made that last part up.
Ahem. About Much Ado About Marshals, some people have said some ever so nice things about it.
Ann Charles, author of Optical Delusions in Deadwood wrote, "Full of laughs, sexy scenes, and exciting adventures, this book is like a fun romp through the Old West. . . Jacquie Rogers knows how to entertain!"
Another blurb: "Cole had me by the heart as soon as he described Daisy's eyes. I won't give it away here, but, wow. Totally sigh worthy." That's from Amber Scott, who's on the Menage-a-Blog tour so go to her site and comment to win a copy of Fierce Dawn. (You'll be glad you did!)
From Judith Laik, author of The Lady Is Mine, "A spunky would-be lady detective and an accidental bank robber keep the mayhem and the laughter coming in this sparkling Western romance."
FIVE STARS! Special thanks to my sponsor for this week's Menage-a-Blog, Detra Fitch, lead reviewer of Huntress Reviews.
She said: "Author Jacquie Rogers penned a fabulous historical romance and then inserted her own brand of wackiness. As a result, this story quickly grabbed me by the throat, kept me reading long past my bed time, and earned a place of honor upon my Keeper Shelf. Unforgettable! I cannot recommend this title highly enough."
I am also beholden to some other wonderful reviewers:
From Augusto Pinaud: "This is a fun story... Should read!"
From Taylor Lee Writes: "Nancy Drew meets William Shakespeare."
Also thanks to My Eclectic Bookshelf and the uber-talented Caroline Clemmons. (She writes the most delicious western historical romances!)

Well, I'll be so very greatful (wink, wink) if I could get a copy of your giveaway book for the blog tour. My stars, what a wonderful prize! (flirty enough? ha! ha!)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read it and to check out some of your other books too!!

I would have to say that the sexiest cowboy ever would have to be John Wayne. He was a little before my time, but was he ever hot in those black and white movies!
ReplyDeleteTheresa
rtnorman2@gmail.com
Thanks, Theresa! You're my #1. :) Book info is on its way. What a flirt you are. LOL.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you crack me up! I think cowboys and the stories of the West are dangerous and sexy! I grin when there is a guy in front of me wearing Wranglers, a cowboy hat and boots. :D
ReplyDeleteI agree John Wayne is a sexy cowboy but my fave is Little Joe from Bonanza! :D
Libby Talley
Libby, what's your email address?
ReplyDeleteYes, a lot of us had crushes on Little Joe. LOL.
hi Jacquie! stopping by to show my support for you, Eden and Theresa. i haven't read stories of the West yet though i've seen a lot of shows on TV. i'm probably missing a lot here so i guess getting a copy of Much Ado About Marshals would be a great way to start and get myself acquainted. thanks and good luck to you three ladies! c",)
ReplyDeleteaobibliophile(at)gmail(dot)com
I have to say Harrison Ford is looking pretty good as a cowboy in his new movie Cowboys and aliens.
ReplyDeleteGabrielle
meingee@yahoo.com
Oh, my. I am torn. Viggo Mortensen was a sexy cowboy gone astray in Hidalgo. Hugh Jackman was a drover (surely a cowboy down under) in Australia. I cannot recall the name of the actor who played The Virginian but he was my first cowboy crush. And then, there was the singing cowboy Clint Eastwood in Paint Your Wagon.
ReplyDeleteHow can one choose?
Rowena Cherry
aliendjinnromances@aol.com
aobibliophile, you're in for a treat! I hope we make a convert out of you so you can go forth and extol the wonders of western historical romance. :)
ReplyDeleteGabrielle, I have to agree about Harrison Ford. Yum. Will be sending your book coupon in a few.
ReplyDeleteI admit, I don't know much about cowboys, and the only ones that come to mind are John Wayne and Woody from Toy Story!
ReplyDeleteSorry Woody, but you're not sexy.
Good luck in the tour!
bookishardour [at] gmail [dot] com
Rowena, you picked some good ones! How about Tome Selleck in Quigley Down Under? :) Pretty good.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of cowboys, my first thought are John Wayne and all the guys are Bonanza. But sexy cowboys include John Travolta in Urban Cowboy, and Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback. And how about country singers who wear cowboy hats like Trace Adkins and Tim McGraw...does that count?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the givewaway?
books4me67 at ymail.com
Bonnie, agreed about poor Woody. LOL. Your book coupon is on its way. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm headed for bed but will respond to comments in a few hours. Won't be much sleep for me!
ReplyDeleteThis is the best post ever! Ha! Sexiest cowboy? Luke Perry, check it out, the man gives me fits: http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2008/07/05/arts/Gun650.jpg
ReplyDeletePavartiDevi @ gamil
Oh my gosh...my favorite topic "Cowboys". I would have to say my first choice would be John wayne, just something sexy about him. My second choice is Tom selleck, he comes very very close to the Duke and third would be George Strait (singer/actor) they all sit in the saddle real nice..*wink, sigh*
ReplyDeleteSharon Sullivan-Craver
s.craver@yahoo.com
definetly John Wayne!! Can't wait to read your book :)
ReplyDeletekkellijo@yahoo.com
While all of the choices have been good so far my fav sexy cowboy would have to be Tommy Lee Jones in The Missing....yummy. Course I like Tommy Lee Jones in any movie! Good luck on the tour!
ReplyDeleteiarvd@yahoo.com
What a fantastic way to have an early morning laugh, even before coffee. Loved it. I've always been told I'm a big flirt--perhaps, I should get a fan. The men, books, and prizes sound fine but the border of a herd of horses really captures my old heart. Great blog site. I'll bookmark it.
ReplyDeleteI am kind of partial to Sam Elliot although I have to agree about George Strait also. John Wayne just wasn't my type. Lok forward to reading your book. Good Luck today!
ReplyDeletepefrw@yahoo.com
One of the sexiest cowboys is Matt Dillion (James Arnez in the old Gunsmoke). I am so looking forward to reading your book. Thanks so much for this and, of course, I would love to win your grand prize.

Even though John Wayne is my hero, I would have to go with Clint Eastwood as Rawdie Yates in Rawhide...

Let's see, sexiest cowboy ... hmm ... well, that's got to be the hero of MUCH ADO ABOUT MARSHALS! Or the antihero, since you used my hub as a loose basis when you were first plotting this, if I recall!
ReplyDeleteLove this post Jacquie!
ReplyDeleteFAve cowboy ? Hmm..mabye Robert Redford in the Horse Whisperer movie....I really don't know many!
look fwd to reading your book in its entirety!
eden
If country singers count, I'm going with Brad Paisley :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the menage a blog!

Sam Elliott--no contest. He's got the look, the attitude--and that voice--OMG that voice!!!
ReplyDeleteSaph
saphsbookblog at gmail dot com
My favorite cowboy is John Wayne, but sexiest I would have to say Viggo Mortensen in Hidalgo or Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall. I already have a copy of the book.
ReplyDeleteSexiest cowboy was Clint Eastwood in Paint Your Wagon - tall, lanky, and could sing! Second runner-up was Glen Campbell in True Grit - for the same reasons! Although Glen could sing a heck of a lot better than Clint did.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog articles ... humor and romance!!
Jennifer Davis
jendavis@new.rr.com
Viggo Mortensen in Hidalgo, though I have to say I am pretty excited to see Cowboys and Aliens. I know Harrison Ford will make a great cowboy, but I am excited to see Daniel Craig in the roll. Lucky girl that Rachel Weisz!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletejguldy at yahoo dot com
I agree that Tom Selleck made a very sexy cowbowy. I look forward to reading Much Ado About Marshalls. Thanks for participating.
ReplyDeletecmhswi at yahoo dot com
wow, look at you go! Love the post, Jacquie. I read Much Ado About Marshals and I laughed all the way through. A great read!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hard choice! I think Sam Elliott is number one (all he has to do is speak in that sexy drawl)and second would be Tom Selleck in the Louis L'Amour movies and in "Quigley Down Under." I'm looking forward to reading MUCH ADO ABOUT MARSHALLS. What a nice treat, Jacquie.
ReplyDeletecaroline@carolineclemmons.com
Oh we would have to go with either John Wayne or Tom Selleck. OMG I love Tom Selleck. I want to be the scissors that trim his mustache. MMMM
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the contest.
koonie2888 at yahoo dot com
Hard to say who is the sexiest cowboy. I agree with Harrison Ford and young Clint Eastwood, I'm also going to throw in Lee Majors when he was in The Big Valley. He always reminded me of Elvis and I love me some Elvis. He even sang in one episode (am I showing my age).
ReplyDeletelvs2dv at gmail dot com
Hi Jacquie,
ReplyDeleteSO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM! Can I categorize?LOL
Movies:John Wayne and Tom Selleck (I typed in SELLECT at first, so that must be a Freudian slip on my part.)
TV: James Stacy in the old tv show LANCER--it was only on for 2 seasons, but he was the hottest tv cowboy ever.
Book: A little known guy named Nat Swanson from a book called St. Agnes' Stand by Thomas Eidson. Not a romance, but you will be in love by the end of the book, I promise.
HISTORICAL WESTERN ROMANCE???? Well, there is NOTHING like a MARSHAL! LOL Congrats on all your wonderful reviews!
Cheryl
Randolph Scott. Of course, he's long before your time. :) Great site, Jacquie.
ReplyDeleteI CANT pick one there is just something soooo sexy about tight jeans ,tan skin, a cowboy, a sexy smile and a southern drawl...whew...theyre allll hot!
ReplyDeleteSexiest cowboy. Although I loved Viggo Mortensen in "Hidalgo" (he does make a yummy cowboy) my absolute fav-or-ite has to be Sam Elliot. OMG! Between that voice and his looks - that man is one hot package for me!
ReplyDeleteYour book sounds like a fantastic read. Thanks so much for your generosity.
Good Luck!
tweezle(at)gmail(dot)com
Not a traditional choice, but I pick Kid Rock!! LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the free book; can't wait to read it!
allyreads81 at gmail dot com
I can't decide about the sexiest cowboy between John Wayne or Clint Eastwood ---I guess John Wayne! Looking forward to reading Much Ado About Marshals! Thanks for offering a marvelous chance!
ReplyDeleteLynn lynn@tangledyarn.com
Thanks Jacquie for getting the word out about westerns!
ReplyDeleteFor me this one is easy: sexiest cowboy ever? James Garner! I adore him in Support Your Local Sheriff and Support Your Local Gunfighter. And as Brett Maverick. Even when he was chasing down bad guys as Rockford, he did it with a bit of a swagger.
Sigh. He's well into his 80s now but that voice still makes my heart go pitter patter.
Nic
Great blog post! I cannot wait to read your book
ReplyDeleteFavorite cowboy? I would have to say Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain!
meghanguarnieri@yahoo.com

ReplyDeleteleaghchristensen@yahoo.com
i have to say Hugh Jackman . He is so nummy anyway but as a cowboy sigh
ReplyDeletemeandi09@yahoo.com
Hi Jacquie, your book sounds great and I can't wait to read it. I am a HUGE John Wayne fan, but I remember when I was growing up I thought that Adam Cartwright on Bonanza was the cutest thing there ever was! I'm still a big Bonanza fan. Thanks and Good Luck!

Oops, forgot to tell you who the sexiest cowboy is: I would say George Strait (especially in Pure Country)
ReplyDeletechamblinh@gmail.com
Tough question! Of course, I love John Wayne. But Clint Eastwood in his spaghetti westerns is so damned sexy. And speaking of Clints, I can't forget about Clint Walker, who was also sexy and big and strong and yummy. I like Gregory Peck mucho mucho as a cowboy, too. Sam Elliot makes an awesome cowboy. And Kevin Costner also lights my fire. There are too many to choose from for this question. I LOVE many of the cowboys. :) Great book!!! One of my all-time favorites.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the history lesson! I always thought I'd be a detective in my other life. Looking forward to reading your book. See you in October!
ReplyDeleteJacquie

Your book looks very good, can't wait to read it. I love cowboy books, movies, anything "cowboy". My sexiest cowboy has to be Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Oh, he was gorgeous in that movie:)

Well, we are talkin' about the West so I'm exercising my woman's prerogative and taking a whole posse of those long, tall, drinks of water:
ReplyDeleteJosiah Gordon "Doc" Scurlock (Kiefer Sutherland) in Young Guns.
Harrison Ford makes my heart go a-twitter, but Daniel Craig will be the cowboy stealing my heart in Cowboys and Aliens.
Virgil Earp (Sam Elliott) in Tombstone can lock me up any day.
James T. West (Robert Conrad) in the original TV series, Wild, Wild West.
Finally, Tim McGraw - it's no coincidence that my husband is rumored to look a bit like him!
You are a fine flirter, Jacquie!

Okay, you want obscure? Nathaniel Arcand played the role of Adam Wolfchild in Nora Robert's Montana Sky. I was crushing on him for a LONG time after.

Any man in jeans and boots. That's a great look! I'll try to get more specific, though. Let me think about all of this.
ReplyDeleteBoth Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger, looking like they did in the movie, but being real life straight. Hugh Jackman is a close runner up.
ReplyDeleteacm05atjuno.com
Robert Redford in the Electric Horseman! Beautiful scenery, Rising Star as a stolen Stallion. Yum!! Redford knocked it out of the ball park! So many cowboys to choose from too.

Kevin Costner floats my boat! :D Happy Menage Day!!

ReplyDeleteI am at plwest@qwest.net
Harrison Ford, definitely! Thanks for the giveaway, I'm looking forward to a great read!
ReplyDeleteapril dot duritza @ gmail dot com
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteThis looked so fun so I snooped through some of the other comments and agree with most...John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and the ever beautiful Sam Elliot. But, someone was missing...they covered Elvis and Redford, even jumped over to country music and had McGraw and George Strait. Someone even said "Matt Dillon" but someone was still missing...
So, I pondered a bit...
I thought about Alan Ladd, the original cowboy in Shane; and Steve McQueen one of seven, that also included Brad Dexter-not a bad lookin' cowboy there- but still...someone was still missing.
So, I went to the web. I searched. And searched. Famous cowboys. Cowboy movies. Sexy cowboys-**NOTE** Don't search that! Weird stuff comes up. But, anyway. I continued my quest...
I found Heath Ledger, Dennis Quaid, Josh Brolin, and...Ed Harris. That man made me forget the question!!!!
While I was lost in images of Ed Harris, as a cowboy and not, it dawned on me who my favorite cowboy really is...who everybody's favorite cowboy is....
Tom Hanks as Woody!
Have fun...I am back to stalk Mr. Harris for a bit!
Kimberly

Okay. I grew up with real cowboys right across the lane. Mark and Mike! Mike was the oldest and the taller of the pair 4 years older then me, Mark was 3 years older. Watching them ride, rope, train young horses and ride bulls! Wow that was always so HOT!!
ReplyDeleteFor a movie cowboy Viggo Mortensen! He pulled it off BEAUTIFULLY!! I could totally see him competing with Mark and Mike! Thank you for bringing it all back. Ah, COWBOYS!!
Ohh let's try this again. I Love LOVE Cowboys. My favorite is Roy Rogers! I mean seriously how can you not?

What a great contest and wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteI have been searching for cowboy romance and I am so glad that I found it here...*S*
I love cowboy stories whether they are historical or contemporary. I have always loved Tom Selleck in Quigley Down Under. That sexy mustache along with his smile is just well....yummy delicious. I need fan badly...*S*
I always tell my H that we were destined as we have a real link in history of the American west. My mother's bless her heart birthday was Oct. 26th. If you know U.S. history then you know that on that date was the Gunfight at the OK Corral. My H's great, great, great, great uncle was none other than Doc Holiday. So you see...we were destined...lol. My H has been my cowboy for 35 years now so I think I'll keep him..*S*
But I can still look of course....*S*
Thank you!

ReplyDeleteOh, so many sexy cowboys! I agree with all the comments so far. Rowena, your mention of the guy who played The Virginian reminded me that many years ago I met his mother at a writers conference. She was going around telling everyone that she was his mother -- her claim to fame, I guess. Funny that neither of us remembers his name and his character was nameless on the show, too. But I also remember that back in his early pre-star days, Robert Redford was in an episode of the show. And, he's at the top of my all-time favorite star list. I was going to mention Electric Horseman, but Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was another great one. Also starring another sexy cowboy (though I can't remember he played any other Western roles), Paul Newman. Oh, those eyes! (Um, actually the name of the actor who played the Virginian just came to me: James Drury.)
ReplyDeleteTheresa, I'll be heading over to your blog pretty soon. Am a bit busy over here. Everyone, be sure to visit Theresa! Finding Kate Huntley is a wonderful book.
ReplyDeleteCaroline, thanks for stopping by, and everyone, please buy Caroline's books! She's so very talented and spins a great yarn. Caroline, MAAM is on it's way here pretty soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go with the bestest cowboy ever - and the one of the first Marlboro Men, Tom Selleck. Yeah, he's older now, but Quigley Down Under is still one of my favorite movies and his honor, strength, compassion just added to his good looks. Sigh. :)

ReplyDeleteI always had a thing for Jack Palance.
ReplyDeletechristygibbon at juno dot com
Hello Jacquie, the sexiest cowboys have to be Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan in Shanghai Noon. By the way, if you ever plan on going to Shanghai, watch that movie first. It's a must. Otherwise some of the finer points of Shanghainese etiquette might pass you by, particularly in the ticket queues on the underground trains.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Oh, nearly forgot.
Vanessathebold@gmail.com
Cheryl, thanks for the compliment. Coming from you it's extra sweet! And oh yeah, James Stacy. Droolworthy for sure. Thanks for stopping in!
ReplyDeleteI think Sam Elliott is the sexiest cowboy...I grew up watching all the cowboy tv series ad seeing all the old black and white movies starring Roy Rogers and Gene Autry but Sam has them all beat....especially his sexy voice. The only guy i ever thought had a great mustache.
ReplyDeleteJFWisherd(at)aol(dot)com
I havn't seen or read a lot about cowboys but from what I Have seen, I'd have to say Viggo Mortensen was a sexy cowboy in Hidalgo and Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback (even if he WAS gay in that one, he's still pretty hot). I can't wait to read your story! It sounds very interesting!
ReplyDeleteruby95660@yahoo.com

ReplyDeleteYIKES! I forgot to leave my e-amil address. I can't miss out on a BOOK!

ReplyDeleteHi desitheblonde! Yay, another vote for Roy Rogers. And Trigger, remember him? Loved that horse. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteJacqui... when you asked who was the sexiest cowboy of the west, I had to come join the fun! When I was a kid, westerns were in their heyday. Every channel had its own hero. You young whipper snappers who were born long after digital became a way of life may not know much about the TV heroes who stole the show purely while running on vacuum tubes. So Google these names if you don't recognize them.
ReplyDeleteMaverick was one of the best, with its brothers, Bret and Bart, and dear old Pappy whom we never saw. Well, not until the Mel Gibson movie remake, which I thoroughly enjoyed. But I can't say it's Maverick.
Gunsmoke had Marshall Dillon, but although he was a true hero, I can't say he's my idea of the sexiest either.
Paladin had grit, gumption, and a great goth-cowboy wardrobe, but can't say he did it for me sexy-wise.
Wagon Train was one of my favorite shows, and I loved watching it, if only for Robert Horton. He was a good-looking hero, and always saved the day. He comes really close.
The Rifleman had two gorgeous men. Chuck Connors was the long and lean dad who never missed with his trick-shot rifle, but I watched purely for Johnny Crawford. I got my first copy of 16 Magazine because he was on the cover. But is the sexiest? Well, he was the cutest thing, and very sweet, but nope.
My idea of the sexiest cowboy was Will Hutchins, who played Sugarfoot. I can still hear the TV's theme song in my head! Sugarfoot was a correspondence school law graduate, which meant he'd learned everything from books and had no practical experience. He was a lawyer you could love. The character, Tom Brewster, was a naive young man with wanderlust and a twinkle in his blue eyes. Blond hair, 6'1" tall. I found a picture of him as he looked "back in the day". http://www.peterbrown.tv/thutchins.JPG
Now, if you insist on a cowboy from modern times, I'll go with Heath Ledger's portrayal in Brokeback Mountain. Masculine, tough, sensitive, loving, and devoted to the one he loved.
